Asus UMPC Eee PC 701

Asus announced the Eee PC 701 this week at the Computex show in Taipei. It has a 7in display, laptop-like QWERTY keyboard and Intel's Ultra Mobile Platform chip technology. Asus said the sub-notebook will contain 512MB of memory and 4, 8 or 16GB of Flash storage. The Eee PC 701 will run Linux or Windows.

The 802.11b/g Wi-Fi and 100Mbps Ethernet for connectivity, along with a 0.3-megapixel camera, stereo speakers, microphone making it complete package. A VGA port for hooking up this gadget to projectors for presentation purpose.

The Asus product manager told chinese Engadget that the product is tested for Microsoft XP but will come Linux preinstalled. The product can pack in 32 GB SSD storage eventually. The version for English speaking countries will be available around August 2007.
